MacEwan University Design Studies
(DESN 380 - Design Research)
Research Statement
This research examines the current and potential applications of time-blocking in the
lives of MacEwan University students. We would like to understand how the context
surrounding time-blocking can impact its effectiveness. With this question, we wish to
propose improved time-blocking considerations for MacEwan students

The Research Goals
Using Design Research methods, our goals is to:
Understand why university students may not use time-blocking as a time-
management strategy.
• Understand the effects of contextual factors on students’ time management
• Learn what strategies and approaches lead to effective time-blocking or time-
management.
• Discover design opportunities and possible solutions for students’ time-
management issues.
